UPPER in Teradata


It will convert the string characters into upper case.

Input: string
Output: Upper case representation of the given string

Syntax:
SELECT UPPER(string)

Example:
SELECT UPPER('teradata’)

Result: TERADATA


Note:
The function will convert all the letters to UPPER case irrespective of input string’s case.
The function is not applicable for numbers. It will throw bad argument type error.
If numbers are enclosed with quotes to represent as strings, it will be unaffected.
TRIM function will not be undertaken here.
