WHERE in Teradata

WHERE is the primary filter clause in any type of SQL database.
Instead of selecting all the rows from a table, we can select particular rows using WHERE.

Syntax:
SELECT columns
FROM table
WHERE condition

condition may contain relational operators, joins etc.

Example:
Principal of a college wants to know the details of a student named 'Maria' whose student_id is 1324.
So, Principal needs only the details of Maria with student_id 1324.
Consider the table tbl_student for this example.
SELECT name, address, year, section, native, hostelite
FROM tbl_student
WHERE student_id=1324

SELECT name, address, year, section, native, hostelite
FROM tbl_student
WHERE student_id=1324 and name='Maria'
